Hey all, before i end, in case any of you are going to Granada, drop by to these places other than Al Hambra,ok?
Granada Moqsue @Â Mezquita De Granada
Opening Hour
http://www.granadamosque.com/
How To Get There:
Al Hambra Bus 31 @ 32, stop at San Nicholas OR Al Baycin, its near to the Mirador San Nicholas. You can see the Al Hambra from here and its view its most beautiful at night.
The mosque helds a lot of activities every month so check out their activities via the website or email them directly (sometimes the website is not updated often) so that if you so happen to come to the right time, you can join and listen their talks.
They did about ‘Marriage in Islam’ recently with speaker’s from a living experience couples talking about the things that became issues between husband and wives at their early stage or through out the marriage so those intending or just want to add more knowledge on Islam can join in (Plus..you can even get married there with the Al Hambra as your wedding picture? hoho)
They sell Dinar & Dirham where you can buy as an assets in these recession time or as your own collection of jewelleries coz they also made it into jewelleries PLUS, you can also use it as you ‘Mas Kawin’ @ ‘Dowry’. Cool, huh?
Dinar & Dirham (base on Gold & Silver so thats why its expensive)
HANDMADE Jewlleries
Lots of facilities like conference hall, Kitchen (fully equipped!) , praying place, etc is available so if you ever have anything to do your meeting etc, you can try the mosque for a change since that it intergrates the Islamic Centre (they even have libraries with Al Quran in Braile version!)
Your hostel can also be arranged by the mosque so you know where you can get cheap hostel but at the same time help the mosque as well as Ibadah 😉
Muslim Women Centre @ Centre of Zaynab Bint Yash
http://www.mujeresmedinagranada.es/portal_eng.html
Run by Moumina, a German muslim, servicing in Homeopathy where you can also get Bach Flower for natural remedies plus Oriental Dance lesson @ Arab Dance only for women if you plan to stay long hoho ( saw a sneak peek of the dance, err..i prefer to dance alone where no one can see hehe ) and loads more activities monthly. The activities that i like most would be the Engslish Tea Time, every First Thursday of the month because i can have tea while watching movie and discuss about the movies we watch (usually about the current state of the muslims)
Muslim Children School (Age 6 – 12)
http://www.fundacionalandalus.org/
Its a private school funded by the muslim community and anyone who is kind enough to fund some money for the school. The curriculum is planned by the parents & teachers themselves where they will held a conference discussing about their children education. The studies is holistic, means other than the usual Math, Science etc it have islamic elements such as Arab class,Quran class and even Fencing for boys! Wish i was sent there years ago.
Located in Los Olivos (surrounded by Olive Farms where the kids went to learn how to make Olive Oil during the picking time), Yellow Bus 105 or 305 to Pulianas, wait at Profesor Emillio Bus Stop near the Flag nearby Gran Via Colo. The bus goes every 1 hour only starting from 9am so to go back, ask for the timetable from the bus driver, sometimes the bus arrives late when you are going back to the city so patience is part of your Iman 😉
Shopping
For a difference, you can buy their hand made leather bags etc in Munira’s in Plaza Nueva along the souvenier shops where u can also find one of the Helado Ice cream shops hehe
www.munira.net
Sample shopper & shopping ;P
OR
Pashmina from the Moroccon shop opposite La Sultana. Just to let you know the price keeps changing but it will always be one of the cheapest place to buy Pashmina as cheap as 2 Euro till 8 Euro. Hoho
Opposite La Sultana
LA SULTANA @ Halal Bakery Takeways
Run by a group of spanish muslim women, its mostly bakeries with some Olive Oils bottles and sweets. My favourite is Vegetarian Lasagna…hoho. Its in San Jeronimo but the best way to get there is to go to the Msoque first and get their flyers coz they have flyers with the map included. Granada road can be confusing for first timer’s. Hurm, i wonder if they will come up with Halal Paella one day 😉
Helado @ I ce Cream…!!!
Yup! Its the MUSTÂ HAVE coz the ice cream is not the icy thing but its a bit different and lots of varieties, sample’s here:
near the cathedral, next to The Shop
nearby Kabab King at Plaza Nueva
CHURRO
They say you can’t leave Granada without having Churro so do look out for any shops selling Churro. Its like Malaysian ‘Cakoi’ dip with Hot Choc @ Melt Choc (they use different name for the REAL hot choc so careful when you order hoho). The best one is AL Hambra near the Plaza Bib Rambla if im not mistaken. Sample’s here:
hot choc
Churro..mcm cakoi but slightly crispier
PAELLA
Obviously THE food you must try here, for muslims, ask if they have ‘Jamon’ @ Pork even the powdered Jamon coz even though they dont have Pork inside but they sometimes add’s a powder base on pork so becareful. Sample:
Iman's Paella is the BEST..!!!!
